Our client, Mr. C was accused of possession of a firearm and ammunition, after they were found in a bag that the police alleged our client had carried. Close analysis of CCTV footage, fingerprint analysis, and forensic evidence showed that our client did not touch the firearm, did not know it was there, and that it was placed in the bag after our client had left it. Faced with the facts, the jury acquitted our client, securing his freedom.

Mr. C found himself facing a squadron of police officers and was placed under arrest, and faced charges of possession a firearm and possessing ammunition without a relevant certificate. The severity of the offenses led him to contact us, to represent him and to help uncover the truth of the matter.

After contacting us, our experienced defence team immediately sprang into action. After meticulously analysing all evidence submitted by the police and the prosecution, our solicitors conducted their own thorough legal investigation. After gathering evidence from our client, our legal team sought to analyse all forensic evidence, work closely with forensic experts, collaborate with other witnesses present, and source character statements from our client’s friends and family members to prove his good nature and refute the possession of a firearm charges.

During the investigation, our criminal defence solicitors consulted with a CCTV expert to analyse all CCTV footage from the street – and were able to prove that our client had come in to visit a friend and did not have any criminal intent in mind. Furthermore, he had come with an empty bag and had left it with the other co-defendants, and was not aware or cognisant of any firearms or ammunition being inside the bag. DNA and fingerprint analysis proved this; our client’s DNA and fingerprints were not present on the firearm or ammunition at all. Our criminal defence solicitors consulted with psychologists as well, to ascertain our client’s mental health and to ensure that he was fit to stand trial.

During the trial, our criminal defence solicitors submitted overwhelming evidence that proved our client’s innocence from possession of a firearm charges, highlighting the lack of forensic evidence, the character statements that proved our client’s good nature, and the fact that he has never been arrested or tried for this kind of offence before. After providing strategic evidence and determined, empathetic legal arguments, the jury realised the truth of the matter and voted to acquit our client, thereby clearing his name and his reputation.

What started as a misunderstanding quickly spiralled into a drawn-out trial, requiring multiple expert witnesses and analysts to prove what was ultimately a false allegation. If you or someone you know has been charged with possession of a firearm, please don’t hesitate to contact us now. We’re here to help defend your rights and protect your interests.
