Cybercrime Case - RvY Hacking Satellite Receivers

Our Cybercrime Solicitors were invited to represent Mr Y who was charged with Fraud by False Representation for Hacking into and modifying satellite receivers for wholesale.

A major TV company became suspicious about someone advertising to sell exclusive products owned by them. They conducted an undercover investigation, buying their own products from Mr Y. The investigators assessed the equipment and realised that Hacking software had been used to Hack into the receivers and make modifications to allow unrestricted viewing.

The police were made aware and Mr Y was charged on 7 counts of Fraud.

Owing to the overwhelming evidence, our Fraud Lawyers made submissions inviting the police to reduce the charges so our client would avoid imprisonment. Charges were reduced and amended to Possession of Criminal Property and our client was spared jail.
